B-Day Doll

Well I told ya that I will be Updating soon so here we go !!

I am very lucky to know an awesome artist by the name of artedar and I am super blessed to be able to call her my friend. Well her birthday was last month I was going to meet up with her and wanted to make something special for her. Any one that knows Dar knows her weakness ..... hand made DOLLS!!!!! So I set out to make a very special doll base off a converstion we once had and this is what I came up with.

A dear friend once asked me “Does it make you cry when you make dark art?” and I asked “Does it make you smile to do happy art?”  A person is made up of all there experiences in life, the GOOD and the BAD and that effects everything we do. The true answer is that it is all about BALANCE. With all the craziness in life it is hard sometimes hard to find just the right spot to be. We ether fall in a bad state of sadness and never move forward or we live in a state of happy denial that we never fix what’s wrong. This does not mean that we are a bad person just means we need a helping hand.

With that I present to you …..

THE GODDESS OF BALANCE

She will be there for you whenever you find that life is tilting and need a hand to Balance out.

I know that I have missed the last two weeks but one was due to Easter and the other was due to Tooth problems. I am still on track with UIU haven’t bought anything new.

I am writing this post with a bit of heavy heart, Due to some personal things going on in life I will not be online much in the next few months. So I will not be blogging, making any YT vids or streaming. If I do happen to make anything I will upload them to my Flickr as I take the pics with my phone anyway it will be easy to up load them.

I am truly sorry.

I hope that you all will keep the UIU going strong and keep supporting one another. Look how far we have come in just 4 months!!!!

UIU Week 12 !!!

Bet you thought I forgot again didnt you ! LOL Nope I have just been doing the great clean up of 2012!!!!! I have posted before that I had to move back in with my folks and so my craft room is also my bed room. Well it has gotten out of hand to the point that I hated craftting. I didnt want ot do anything at all!! I cant have that because art and crafting is like air to me and i was dying with out it!!

So this week there was no UIU crafts but no spending on craft stuff. I did have to get a bookcase but that will not count because I had to replace the one I had. The one I had in storage broke some how :(

 I am soooooooooo Happy !!! Now I can find things and I dont have to dig like a Mad woman !!! I cant wait to Play in my new space!!! OH and did you see that BIG BOX under the printer !! YUP thats my PAZZLE!!!!! I can NOW open it!! I told myself that I was not going to open and play with it untill I was done cleaning WOOOT!! Bad thing is I am stuck at work right now ((( shhhhh dont tell me boss))))

UIU weeks 9, 10, and 11

Hiya everyone,

I am sooooooooooooooooooooo SORRY that I missed so many posts. I have had a lot of crazy / drama /sadness going on. All I can say is real life sucks some times. I am slowly getting back on track and I will be posting again.

I have been good with UIUing my stuff but I did get some things.

#1 was Glossy Accents – I wanted to add a little something to a box swap that I was in and I thought that would be the best thing. I never had that stuff so I treated my self to a bottle. The funny thing is I didn’t use it on the box because it just wouldn’t fit right. LOL but I do have some plans for it.

#2 I got a Crop-a-dile. I have always wanted it one but always pushed it off. I have the old school hammer setter so I didn’t need it. We I will be working on a challenge piece and I will need to use A LOT of eyelets and since I now live with my folks again and have to have my craft “room” in my bedroom the old school hammer is not a good thing. I craft a lot at night and hubs is right there sleeping and then the folks are right next door (see the prob) so that is not happing. I gave in and got one but I do not feel bad for that because it is a tool that I will use a lot.

#3 This is the BIG one! I got my electric cutter!! WOOOO HOOOOO Now this I should feel bad about but I don’t and why you ask well 2 things, 1 it was on my UIU board as on of the things that I really wanted and 2 the deal I got. I ended going with the Pazzle inspiration over the silhouette cameo because if you get it from Pazzle site you can sign up for 2 years for there images and the machine will only be $99. NOW I know that the monthly fee of there plan will end up costing me the full price of the machine but I look at it as a payment plan and I will be getting a ton of images for free!

I know that one day I will get a die cutter too because they each have there purpose but for now I am good with this.

I still can not believe how strong UIU is going still after 11 weeks!!!! And I am proud of each of you. I may not comment much on blog post BUT I DO READ THEM ALL. And it real touches my heart to know that so many stand behind this Crazy UIU!!

I will be putting up a few posts with all my projects that I have been working on and they are UIU but I just wanted to make this the update post. So keep a look out to see what I have been up to and again thank you so much

UIU Week 8

Where is the time going !! WOW

Ok I am posting this for a place for checking in. I have to work today (boooooo real life) I will edit this when I get home or on Monday with my UIUs so check back. :)

UIU week 7

Hiya everyone!!

Sorry this is a bit late but Sunday was crazy and today I was lucky enough to hang out with some awesome online friend in real life!!!! We meet up in  Makefield NJ then headed to New York! I had a bast with them. We went to some amazing craft stores! OHHHHHHH MANNNNNNNN !!!! the will power I had to have!!!! I wanted it ALL!! They had things I never saw in my life! BUT I was really good.

The 1st place we went to I FINALLY found fabric that I have been looking forever for!! It was a wood grain print. It was $20 (ouch ) but I had to get it to finish a quilt top I have been working on this past year.  I did write it down on my uiu clipboard but under my basic list due to I have been looking for a long time for it.

 I also found a book from district market that was really cool. I will not be putting the book on my uiu clipboard because I will not be using it as "crafts" even if it was found ing the craft store. Its going to be my purse note book. I keep getting note books for me but they keep "growing legs" ** eyes up family** and NO one knows were they are. Well with this one I KNOW its mine!!!

The 2nd place we went to I go a few gift for some other friends and I had a coupon for free 12x12 papers if you spent 30 well the gifts were a bit under so I treated myslef to a $6 stencil.

So a day that was filled with shoping I did great just walking out with 2 things!! (but man I still wanted it all!!) I did some awsome gifts and art friend the meet up with friends and I really think they like the things I made them. If you ever get the chance to meet some of your online craft buddies DO IT!!!

Mitzi's Pizza box challenge

This was my entry for Mitzi's pizza box challenge.

The point of this challenge was to use a pizza box and make something out of it. She said to " think outside of the box" but I just thought of a different box. LOL

What I have made is a Mail center. The top has a drawer for pens and stamps the middle will house envelopes and cards and the bottom is an address book. There is a blank black space in the front and that is for my sticky notes that i have ALLLLLLLLLL over the place. I am really happy with this challenge and I really needed it too. I have a really small space and this will hopefully help keep me organized with my mail and things that have to go out. Now only if this thing can take things to the post office for me that would ROCK!

UIU week 6

Holy cow 6 weeks down!!!!!! And I am so proud of everyone!!!!!! This has been so awesome!!!!!!! (can ya tell I am excited hehe)

Still no shopping from me but I have been very tempted but I keep looking at my clipboard at the things I really want this year and that has kept me
on track.

Not much crafting this week. I am still working on the crochet shawl but I did make a necklace. I can add the button from my phone but its 100% UIU :)

UIU week 5

Wow we are in week 5 already the time just flew by!!

I have also been working on a shawl for myself (lets see how long I can keep it when its done!!)

I have been working on another project but its for a challenge so I can't show it just yet but I am really happy with it.



How are you holding up? I have seen blog posts about some people giving in but its OK you can still do this!! Dont beat yourself up to bad we will all slide but we are here to pick you  back up ((((HUGS)))

UIU week 4 check in.

Wow can you believe we are already at four weeks! I can't believe all the awesome UIU post I see everyone doing! I am still having some problems commenting on some blogs and with updating the UIU list. But I am reading them and they make me so happy :)

I have only done 2 more atcs and one art doll all UIU. I will post pics later ( I am doing this post from my phone, I got sucked into family stuff lol)

UIU week 3

Hi everyone!!

I want to start off with saying I am sorry that I still haven't added some people to the UIU list, Blogger is having some kind of problem (pita). I can't even get into some peoples blogs to leave comments. I will keep trying so please forgive me if you still don't see you name on the list.


 I am happy to say I am feeling MUCH better so the craft mojo its back!! woooo hoooo.

UIU Week 2 Check in

Hi Everyone! How are we doing this week?


I have been sick all week so not much crafting for me, I really hate being sick you get stuck moving in slow motion. I did make a few things, Darcy’s postcard challenge (still need to post it), Granny squares and this UIU clipboard.

   

The clipboard is my way to keep me honest with myself. If I buy it I have to write it down. There are 3 spots for the things we buy- Basics, walk by/treat and what I truly want.  I find that if I write it down it’s a bigger impact / Reality check then what I “think” I have spent.  As you see there is only 3 things that I have on my truly want list. One is a tool that would work on so many levels of my crafting and with that I would not need to get a die cutter. Yes I know that the Cameo and a die cutter are to different animals but it is what would work best for me. The other two are very dear to my heart they are retreats with amazing artist and I am happy I can call them my friends. Being able to learn from them and to hang out is more valuable to me than any craft supply.

 I have gotten some emails questions that I would like to answer in this post

1 Do I need to post on here (my blog) to be in the UIU?

No you don’t have to post here but please give me a link so other UIU pledgers can find you so we can support you.

2 Is there a place I can check in at and when?

I will be doing a weekly UIU post on Sundays. You can leave comments on how you are doing or leave a link to your blog update post.

3 I left a comment but I am still not on the list.

I have been ill for the past week I am sorry. I am doing my best to update the list as soon as I can.

4 This is not a question but it’s to answer the “ways out” people have been giving me.

I know that CHA is coming and everyone is drooling over the new things that are coming out so I have been getting a lot of can I do this or that emails. They are asking for ways out so they can get the new toys.  Well I am NOT going to provide an excuse for you. As I have said all along, this is a pledge not to me but to yourself. You have to decide if you really want to do this, I will stand by you but if you want ways out please tell me and I will remove you from the list of links.

I hope I am not coming off mean but for me the UIU really means a lot to me. I do not have the means anymore to shop like I once did. My hubs is still bouncing around in a temp service after losing his job over a year ago and I just found out that I will be getting a cut in pay. We had to give up our privacy and move in with my folks. I am not telling to this for sympathy, pity or anything like that. I am just telling my reasons for UIU other people have different reasons for joining.

 With the UIU I have found the fun of crafting again with making things out of the bits and bobs that I have, rediscovering the treasures I had hidden way and I hope that you are to.

UIU ... How are you doing?

I am so over the moon with the responds to the UIU!!! We have 48 people on the list so far!!!!!

Well we are done with week 1 of the UIU, how are you holding up? Did you rock it out or did you cave? Did you just get the basics or did you shop till you dropped? If you rocked then WOOO HOOO!!!!!! If you caved it’s ok we are here for you! (((Hugs))) just remember not to stash that stuff away and forget about it. I find the best way to handle the UIU is to have a good attitude about it. Don’t think” OMG I can’t buy ANYTHING!! “You can but just NOT EVERY TIME!! The goal here is to make awesome art/crafts with the added benefit of making room and saving money. If you feel like you NEED to buy something that is not a basic item set yourself a goal. I have to make x amount of projects or use up that pile of paper before I treat myself. Then really think about what your treat will be, is it that one paper pad you have been drooling over or that skein of yarn you had your eye on AND stick with it. Don’t go to the store and look around to find your treat that way you are in and out and not tempted to over shop.



As for me I only got some basic card stock in black, white, kraft and metals. (All at 50% $8 woot!) I am not a scrapbook person or much of a paper crafter but I do have some pattern papers and I needed a base for them. I also use the white card stock for art projects.



I have been UIU but with yarn. I have lots of yarn that has just been sitting around so I am putting it to good use. Some of my friends have been tweeting with the #grannyaday tag and I had to ask about it. I haven’t found the blog for it yet but all it is make one granny square a day in crochet. I was thinking Hey I can do that and what a great way to apply UIU at the same time!! So dug out some yarn and have been working away. My plan is at the end of each month I will join them and make a blanket to donate to Linus.



Felicia has made some fun blinkers for us to use on our UIU projects and I love it. Grab one and use them on your project posts to show your UIU pride!! And don't for get to vist other UIU peeps and show them love!!

Postcard challenge week 1 .... updated

Here is my week 1 for Darcy's challenge
I can tell this is going to be a fun year with this. I am loving everyones cards already!
The picture I drew was of the Innsbruck Swarovski waterfall in Austria. It's done in color pencils, the water coming down is white craft paint and the back is a watercolor wash.
Can't wait till next week!

Happy New Year everyone!!
 
Here’s to awesome 2012!! There are soooooo many things I am looking forward to this year.
 
There was a lot of good but as well bad in 2011so I have mixed feeling of saying good bye to it.  All I can do is welcome 2012 with the hopes of a better year full with fun, love and happiness.
 
What I look forward the most for 2012 is getting myself together! I have been so out of it with so many parts of my life that I welcome the change.
 
- Blogging and TTMT:  *sigh* I have been really bad at doing that but no more. I am going to be updating at lest one a week if not more. I will also be cutting that online hanging out time. I am doing that to much and not doing art or crafts but then I
whine that I have no time to make things. So this is what I hope to do, Stop goofing off online so much and use this blog to “hangout” in. So if you want to catch up with me come here to find me or yt. ((I hope that made some kind of sense. LoL))
 
- Doing more: I love my art/crafts and it one of the few things that make me truly happy. This year I am going to work on it hard core. I want to make so many things and I never have the time so I am going to make the time!!! I have signed up to do a few
challenges and I can’t wait to work on them and share them with you. I will be posting them on here as they come out.
 
 
- Get organized!
 
 
- As far as home life my goal is to save enough money to be able to move back out on my own. As many of you know Hubs and I had to move in with my parents due to many misfortunes. It is very hard with 4 adults with very different ways of doing things and
opinions living in the same roof. There is also the space issue and not being able to have our things here. The list can go on and on but I will not dwell on that.
 
- Fun: I have been really stressed this passed year with so many things that I forgot to have fun. I really want to take time and enjoy life. What’s the phrase “life’s to short”
